Get a non-citizen identity card
A foreign national who has lived in Ghana for 90 days or more in total can apply for a Non-Citizen Ghana Card. It is renewed every year.
Who does not need one
- Diplomats, and people employed by a diplomatic or consular mission.
- People employed by the United Nations or one of its agencies.
- The spouse or dependant of any of the above.
- Visitors staying less than 90 days.
What to bring
- a valid passport
- a residence permit
- a birth certificate certified by your country's embassy
- an Oath of Identity form, sworn before a Commissioner for Oaths, if someone is vouching for you
What happens at the centre
- Buy a scratch card at a CalBank or Access Bank branch, with the CalBank app, or by USSD.
- A registration officer interviews you and you complete the application form.
- A data entry officer checks the PIN on your scratch card, takes your fingerprints, portrait, iris scan and signature, and enters your form.
- You check the details that were entered. If anything is wrong, say so now.
- You collect your card from the issuance desk.

Fees are per person and paid in cedis at the equivalent of the amounts below.

A non-citizen card has NON-CITIZEN IDENTITY CARD printed in red on the front. Refugees are issued a card marked REFUGEE, at US$15 a person.
