Minister sets out what states can do for innovation, at PLASSTIFEST 2026
At the Plateau State Science, Technology and Innovation Festival in Jos, the Minister urged states to set up their own institutions for innovation.
Dr Udeh said the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2022 aims to move Nigeria from a resource-based economy to a knowledge-based one, and that research must leave the laboratory and reach the market.
He described Energise Commercialisation Now, or ECoN, which finds research that can be sold, connects innovators with investors and supports incubation. He also described the National Research and Innovation Development Fund, which the ministry is setting up to finance research and prototypes.
He asked states to create innovation councils, research commercialisation offices, innovation funds and technology transfer platforms, and named Plateau's opportunities in agriculture, mining, renewable energy and digital services. He thanked the Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for hosting the festival.
Issued by Mrs Pauline Sule, Head, Press and Public Relations.
