Special Duties Department
Supports the Permanent Secretary in managing the ministry and its agencies, and runs three units that used to report to the Permanent Secretary directly. Created in March 2014.

What the department does
- Helps the Permanent Secretary supervise the staff of the ministry and its agencies
- Represents the Permanent Secretary at some functions, and manages access and schedules
- Coordinates responses to emergencies, and supports leadership transitions
- Monitors capital and constituency projects
- Liaises with the National Assembly
Travel and Protocol
- Travel, passports, visas and hotels for the Minister, the Permanent Secretary and staff
- Courtesy calls, reception and airport arrivals
- Liaison with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies and the State House
Anti-Corruption and Transparency
- Inaugurated by the ICPC on 13 April 2017
- Educates staff and the public on corruption
- Monitors budget implementation
- Enforces the codes of ethics
- Carries out preliminary investigations
- Observes the staff, procurement and tender committees
Stock Verification
- Checks supplies, works and services when they are delivered and before payment
- Checks the stores at least twice a year
- Analyses prices
- Keeps a yearly inventory of furniture, equipment and vehicles
