Bioresources Technology Department
Responsible for developing and sustainably managing Nigeria's biological resources. The National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), with 24 bioresource centres across the six geopolitical zones, is under its supervision.

What the department does
- Formulates, monitors and reviews science, technology and innovation policy for bioresources
- Applies science and technology to conserve, map, bio-prospect, commercialise and manage Nigeria's biodiversity
- Gives technical support to entrepreneurs and the private sector in bioresource conservation and commercialisation
- Monitors and coordinates research and development in bioresources
- Writes guidelines on conserving and using bioresources, on commercialising them, and on releasing agricultural varieties
- Works with local and international bodies on biodiversity management
